I was planning to change my semi automatic washing machine to fully automatic washing machine. But there are hundreds of brands available in the market and I am totally novice on all the features available. I wish someone could be there to guide me on things to look for, while buying gadgets. While browsing for the same, I found this website ShopWiki.com. It is really very useful for anyone who is about to buy any gadget.

When I got my Microwave oven, I didn’t know the actual usage of it. Today I am using only for reheating and for making some popcorns. I never knew the various options available in a microwave and what to look for while buying the same. If I would have taken much care like this, I would have got a valued product. That’s why I thought of sharing this valuable information with all of you, so that everyone can be benefited.

This website is really user friendly and they have information on almost all gadgets like vacuum cleaners, humidifiers, kitchen appliances etc. They have categorized the gadgets so well and it is very search any product. They have all updated information and it makes us easy to know the recent trends. The best thing I noticed in their website is they have the entire brand names list and you can read reviews about the product, do cost comparison etc. Very useful know!! I am really excited and believe you also will be ready to browse through this site immediately.

Seasoned Curd Rice

12:33 PM | Publish by Kayal

I just thought of sharing my own way of preparing curd rice(seasoned). Recently we celebrated chitra pournami. This is not a must to celebrate festival in tamilnadu, but we do celebrate just to have moonlight dinner with all the family members. Let me define Chitra Pournami(obviously for those who really dont know). This is the full moon day in the month of Apr-May, that is the tamil month Chithirai. The day is dedicated to Chitragupta, the official assistant of Lord Yama. This day is considered as Chitragupta' s Birthday.Chitragupta, the first assistant of Lord Yama, is the one who keeps record of the good and bad deeds of human beings on earth. After death, when one reaches the abode of yama, it is he who tallies the good and bad deeds and declares it to Yama. Therefore, the day is dedicated to Chitragupta and devotees pray to him to forgive their sins.
On this day we should be on fasting for the whole day and cook in the evening at before the moon comes. We will have our dinner only after seeing the moon. That will really nice to sit in the terrace, watching the moon and having food, chitchatting...so much fun.
Ok coming to the point, I prepared lemon rice, coconut rice, tamarind rice and curd rice finally. all in very small quantities, just to have a flavour of all variety rice.
Here comes the recipe for Seasoned Curd Rice

Ingredients:

Raw Rice - 1 cup cooked
Milk - 1/2 cup
Curd - 1/2 cup
Green chillies - 3 finely cut
Ginger - 1 small piece finely cut
Aesfoetida - 1 pinch
Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp
Urad Dhal - 1 tsp
Cumin Seeds - 1/2 tsp

Method:

Cook the rice with 1 cup extra from normal cooking.
Add the milk to the rice and let it cool.
Heat a vok and add 1 tsp of oil. Add all the seasoning items and saute for a min.
Add this to the cooled rice and mix well.
Add the curd, salt and mix well.
Serve with mango pickle.

Drumstick Leaves Adai

5:28 PM | Publish by Kayal

I think, everyone will be aware of the rich Iron content in the drumstick leaves. Unluckily, I was not able to find good drumstick leaves in any shop here. Either they will have a spoiled branch or dried branch. Its my favourite and was desperatly waiting for introducing this leaves to my kid. During our search for a play home for my kid, we found a fresh drumstick tree near my place, at the play school. I felt very bad, that the tree was unexplored till that time and it was only a few yards from my place. Anyway they didnt give admission for my kid, saying its too early to put him in a play home. I realized that i am running so fast for everything with my kid. But i felt happy for my discovery of drumstick leaves atlast. So with their permission am getting fresh bunch of leaves. I love everything made out of this, and the first thing that striked my mind was adding the leaves to the adai.
Here goes the recipe

Ingredients

Par Boiled Rice - 1 cup
Raw Rice - 1 cup
Toor Dhal - 1 cup
Channa dhal - 1/4 cup
Moong dhal - 1/4 cup
Urad dhal - 1/4 cup
Fried gram - 1/4 cup
Red Chillies - 8
Green Chllies - 2
Pepper corns - 1 tsp
Gralic - 7 pods
Drumstick Leaves - 1 cup
Saunf - 1 tsp
Aesfoetida - 1/2 tsp
Salt and oil as required
Onion - 2 big minced.

Method

Soak the both the rice together in a bowl. Mix all the dhal and soak them in a seperate bowl.
Let them be sokaed for an hour.
In a mixer, add the garlic, chillies and saunf. Grind it to a smooth paste.
Later add the rice and grind well. Add the dhal later and grind it coarsely.
Add salt and aesfoetida and mix well.
Heat a kadai and saute the minced onion with 1 tsp of oil.
Once the onion turns translucent, add the randomnly cut drumstick leaves. Saute this for a minute.
Add this to the batter and mix well. The batter should be little thick.
In a tawa, prepare adai as we do for dosa. Be little liberal in using oil for getting crispy adai.
Serve hot with crushed jaggery, which also is rich in Iron. This is truly a healthy meal(Iron + mor eprotein) esp for kids and ladies.

I am sending this to Grammathu Kaimanam/Village Special Recipe Event hosted by Shama.
also sending to SWC - Cooking with Greens event hosted by Sowmya
